Reflections on This Decade

Written byEve Agee

December 18, 2019

As the holidays approach, it can be so easy to get lost in an endless string of tasks and overwhelmed by stress.

However, these final weeks of the decade present a wonderful opportunity for self-reflection to prepare for a new year and new beginnings.

What would it be like to take a few minutes today to contemplate or journal about how you want to complete 2019 and open to the new decade ahead?

Take a moment to decide when you can spare 5-10 minutes today to focus on you and intentionally completing this past decade.

You may want to light a candle, get out your journal or go outside in nature or wherever is good for you.

Start by reflecting on 2019 and this past decade…

What were your most joyous moments, your favorite events or your biggest areas of growth?

What challenges did you face and what are the lessons you learned?

Who are the people who supported you?

What are the gifts you’ve gotten to share with others?

Next, allow yourself to focus on 2020 and the new decade ahead:

What do you want to experience in the coming year?

Who do you want to spend more time with and connect with more?

What goals or dreams do you want to move toward?

How do you feel when you connect with this?

Completing a decade is a milestone.

Honor yourself and your journey by intentionally completing this year and this decade in a way that acknowledges you and all you’ve been through.

Doing so will open up space so you can embark on 2020 with clarity and focus to make your life and dreams a priority.
